Who is Midam?
Midam, whose real name is Michel Ledent, was born in 1963 in Brussels. As a child, he loved monsters and enjoyed reading short fantasy and science-fiction stories.
At the age of 18, he turned toward artistic studies and, a few years later, earned a degree in illustration from Saint-Luc, the renowned art school in the Belgian capital.
In 1993, Midam started craeting drawings for the video game section of Spirou magazine and created the character Kid Paddle. In response to readers’ enthusiasm, the editor-in-chief invited him to expand the feature to a full page.
In 1996, the first Kid Paddle album, Jeux de vilains, was released. The success quickly took hold and proved long-lasting. To date, the Kid Paddle series consists of 21 volumes.
In 2003, following the launch of Kid Paddle Magazine, additional content was needed, and Midam created a spin-off series entitled Game Over, featuring Kid Paddle’s virtual avatar: “The Little Barbarian.” The series currently includes 24 volumes.
Together, these two series have sold over 13 million copies, a true success story…
